Question by dean f: Issue with a collector threating is this true?
Hi I have recently recived a nasty call from a collector in regards of a debt that is 7 year old from the last payment. This thing is so old it is not on mu credit report anymore. This collector is claiming i owe 8k now “7 years ago it was 2k”. I told him that i live in iowa where the statue of limitations on openend accounts ‘credit cards’ is 5 years. He came back and said bull s’it. It is 10 years because it is a writing contract, he then went on and told me i have until the end of the day to settle with this debt or else they will file a suit. He also told me they have a team of good lawyers that will get the judge to use the 10 year sol and they will win and go after your pay. I always see good answers in here was wondering if anyone could help.

Let them go to court and try. A Judge will be very displeased at such frivilous actions.
Sheer bully tactics but for heavens sake stop talking to them on the phone or will will inadvertently do something that WILL permit them to start the clock again.
